Miami, Fla. – February 19, 2020 – Magic City Casino donated more than $7,000 to Potentia Academy, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, in front of an enthusiastic student body and appreciative teachers and administrators. The donation was generated from partially used vouchers, that were left behind on the Magic City Casino floor by patrons over the course of 2019. Magic City Casino’s multi-year donation has bestowed approximately $25,000 in “loose” change over the past three years to Potentia Academy, and close to $70,000 to worthy community partners throughout South Florida over the past eight years.
“Magic City Casino is thrilled to make this donation to Potentia Academy and to continue Magic City Casino’s long-term effort to recognize local organizations that are doing good in our community. We applaud Potentia Academy for creating such a positive learning environment that enables their students to flourish,” said Scott Savin, Chief Operating Officer of Magic City Casino.
Potentia Academy is a Greenacres private school that works exclusively with students with unique learning abilities. Founded in 2009, the school offers a distinctive approach to teaching that is tailored to students’ individual needs and pace of learning. The school’s mission is to empower students from middle school through high school to reach their full learning potential and to acquire the living, social, and job skills necessary to transition to independent living.
“We are beyond appreciative of good corporate citizens like Magic City Casino, who demonstrate social responsibility through their support of community charities. Magic City’s support over the last several years has enabled Potentia Academy to serve more students and with a higher quality educational experience. This year, we will put the Magic City Casino donation toward the purchase of a shade sail for an outdoor eating area so that our students can enjoy lunch protected from the mid-day sun,” said Janice Meeks, principal of Potentia Academy.
