Miami, Fla. – February 19, 2020 – Magic City Casino is proud to present a raucous night of rock with George Thorogood and The Destroyers and funk ensemble War from the Magic City Amphitheater on Saturday, March 7 at 7pm. George Thorogood will pay tribute to his band’s 45 years of musicianship on its lively “Good to Be Bad” Tour.
“Get ready for an electrifying show as George Thorogood and The Destroyers pay tribute to 45 years of rock,” said Scott Savin, Chief Operating Officer at Magic City Casino. “Rebel-hearted frontman George Thorogood, with his signature slide guitar, is still thrilling audiences and the most bad-to-the-bone performer in rock today. Multi-platinum selling War will kick the night off with their instant feel-good funk classics.”
George Thorogood and The Destroyers’ high-energy blues rock sound became a staple of 1980’s rock radio, with hits like “Bad to the Bone” and “I Drink Alone.” Thorogood helped to popularize covers of blues standards such as Hank Williams’ “Move It On Over” and John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.” For more than four decades, George Thorogood and The Destroyers have performed more than 8,000 live shows and sold 15 million albums worldwide, including two albums that were certified Platinum and six albums that have been certified Gold.
War is a California funk band founded in 1970 that blends a variety of musical genres, including Latin, jazz, reggae and rock, with socio-political lyrics to create a carefree soulful sound that is distinctly their own. The multi-ethnic ensemble’s album The World Is a Ghetto reached the No. 1 spot as Billboard Magazine’s “Album of the Year” in 1972. War’s catalog of hits includes “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “The Cisco Kid,” “The World Is a Ghetto” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”
